TM rewards top streamyx contractors

Malaysia Berhad ™ honoured the outstanding performers among its Streamyx installation contractors at a Rewards and Recognition event held recently in Petaling Jaya. The event was attended by over 300 guests from its nationwide installer network.

En Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, TM’s Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Business, paid tribute to the efforts of TM’s installer partners and handed out a range of awards for top performing companies and individuals. The awards were to give due recognition to installers who have made a significant contribution to TM’s success in increasing its subscriber base over the past year.

“Our Streamyx subscriber base in 2006 grew by 54% from our 2005 base. Therefore we are well on track to achieving our ‘Triple 1’ target of 1.11 million subscribers by the end of 2007. We cannot overstate the importance of the contribution made by our installer partners and the event today is to demonstrate our appreciation for their excellent performance.”

TM’s nationwide network of installers comprise of 183 Streamyx installation contractors with 569 installers, who performed over 120,000 installations in 2006. At the event, En. Zamzamzairani presented awards to the top 3 companies and individual installers for the nationwide category, as well as to the top 10 companies and individuals in the various regional categories.

The regional category award winners received commemorative plaques and certificates, while the nationwide winners received prizes, which included PDAs, laptops, digital cameras and holiday packages to destinations like Bali, Hong Kong and South Korea. The awards presented were based on several criteria, which included activity levels, management practices, customer service and communications.

In addition to the presentation of the awards, the guests were also treated to performances by celebrities like Faizal of One in a Million, Dina of Malaysian Idol and TM’s very own “Broadband”, a band formed by TM employees.

En Zamzamzairani added “TM’s objective is to enable as many Malaysians as possible to get onto the internet. Our network of installer partners is assisting us by ensuring our new subscribers are able to have their Streamyx broadband connection up and running promptly so they can begin their digital lifestyle experience.”

Today, TM serves more than 3 million Internet customers, out of which more than 915,000 are broadband subscribers.

Multimedia: Applications and Future

Computers nowadays has become a very famous tools that should everyone have. The government also urge us to have ‘one p.c. per home’. In year 2020 we will see multimedia will become fully use as at Multimedia Super Corridor (Dr. Norsaidatul Akmar Mazelan – MSC & MDC Maktab Kerjasama Malaysia).

As that goes, multimedia has become standard method of conveying information. Multimedia combines different types of media elements such as text, graphics, sound, animation and video into one cohesive applications to convey informations. We can mix and match any these media elements depending on the type of message we would like to pass on to your target audience.

Basically, with multimedia, we are only limited by our imagination. In the heart of multimedia is interactivity. A regular telephone can be used to transmit information via either voice (audio) or fax data. The telephone is not considered multimedia device because it only uses one type of media at a time, audio or text. A television in one hand is considered a multimedia device. It can transmit text, sound, video, graphics and animations data simultaneously but it is a linear multimedia device, meaning the viewer has no control over the sequence of the presentation.

However, with a P.C. you can have interactive multimedia. With interactivity, we, the user have control over what media elements are to be delivered and when it is to delivered. (see Figure 1). For example, a presenter may want to use animations, sound and text at different parts of his presentation to present ideas and information to his audience or a manager may want to illustrate some word-processed documents and spreadsheets together with sound, video and graphics animations.

Interactive multimedia is important especially when it is applied in education. Research has proven that students increase their retention rate up to 40 per cent when multimedia methodology of teachings is used compared to traditional teaching methods. We tend to remember more if we actively participate in the learning process. To make our P.C become multimedia PC, we have to have a few hardware components.

2. Include the 7-P’s of marketing. The first 4 – P’s are fairly well known product, price, place and promotion. Article marketing also requires 3 additional P’s of position, preference and people.

3. Inject the 3-Q’s of quality, quantity and quality. Again quality and quantity are well known marketing tactics. Yet in article writing, you also must quality your prospects and expertise within key areas aligned to your strategic plan.

4. Demonstrate respect. Business owners today have less time to read than ever before. Respect their limited time.

5. Hone your writing skills. Writing is a skill and good writers posses that skill above average writers. Many writers have experience as outstanding speakers, consultants and business coaches. However, these skills sets are not always transferable to being an outstanding writer.

6. Measure your results. Successful marketing begins and ends with results.

7. Embrace the process - Internet article marketing is a process of continual improvement. The more you write, the better you think and the better you think the more you write. This process needs to be aligned to your strategic plan.
